How to Choose the Right Conveyor Belt for Heavy Material Handling

The Lifeline of Material Transport

From limestone quarries to sugar mill bagasse transport, conveyor belts are the critical arteries of heavy industry. Selecting the wrong belt can lead to frequent splicing failures, material spillage, and costly plant downtime.

Fabric vs. Steel Cord

For standard applications over short distances, EP (Polyester/Nylon) fabric belts offer excellent flexibility and impact resistance. However, when transporting heavy loads over long distances or high inclines, ST (Steel Cord) belts are non-negotiable. Steel cord belts provide ultra-high tensile strength (up to ST-5000) and minimal elongation, making them perfect for raw mill feeds and clinker transport.

Understanding Cover Grades

The rubber cover grade dictates how long your belt will survive. Grade M provides high abrasion resistance for sharp rocks, while HR (Heat Resistant) grades are mandatory when moving hot clinker up to 200°C. Win Power engineering teams always analyze the material properties, drop heights, and temperatures before recommending the optimal belt specifications for our clients.
